Cormac Shine
Seconded National Expert, Security and Defence Policy, European External Action Service

Cormac Shine is an Irish diplomat currently seconded to the European External Action Service, the EU’s diplomatic service, where he works on security and defence policy. A career diplomat since 2018, he previously served at the Embassy of Ireland in Uganda and Ireland’s Permanent Representation to the EU, with experience in EU foreign policy, international peace and security, complex multilateral negotiations, political affairs and analysis, and policy coordination and implementation. He holds master’s degrees from the Geneva Graduate Institute and the National University of Ireland, and a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Trinity College Dublin.
