Galina Salnikova Profile

Galina is an independent researcher, previously spending 3.5 years with the UN RCO in Viet Nam and UNODA Vienna. She has also worked with the James Martin CNS, the PIR Center, and Russian academic institutions. An active member of the BASIC Emerging Voices Network, she researches the intersection of nuclear weapons and social justice, and recently chaired a working group on climate-nuclear nexus communications. Galina is also a CTBTO-CENESS Fellow 2023. Her diverse career connects arms control with development, gender perspective, and youth empowerment. She holds a BA in International Relations from FEFU and a dual MA from MIIS and MGIMO in global security and non-proliferation, with her thesis examining Russia in the NPT Review Cycle 2023-2026.
